“It only takes a spark to get a fire going, and soon those all around can warm up in its glowing. ”
These a re the words that begin one of my favorite hymns, Pass It On. Sometimes as a small
membership church we think that being in Mission & Ministry is som ething left to the bigger mega
churches. But like the song says “It only takes a spark”.
We here at Asbury UMC are the spark when we help to provide a program, The WAY, to those who
are dealing with substance abuse issues. How do you help? By your contributions that ensure the
electric bill is paid and the facility is available for people to meet here, by your prayers for those who
are trying to find a better way, and by providing snacks for a tie of fellowship after the meeting.
YOU are the spark when you do any of these things!
Twice each month we are now able to provide food for those in need in our community. Your
donations pay for a mountain of food to be procured, your time volunteering helps to sack and
distribute the food, & your prayers empower and encourage the effort to feed the hungry.
“It only takes a spark ” and YOU are that spark that helps us to serve the least, the lost, the last, the
lonely, and the littlest!
We can serve God and our neighbor from right where we st and. As a small mem bership church we
can bloom where we are planted. As just who we are , with the help of God, we can live out the
mission and ministry Christ calls us to. Thank YOU for being a SPARK. Thank YOU for being a part
of the Mission and Ministry of Asbury UMC!!
