What is United Campus Ministries

What is United Campus Ministry?

United Campus Ministry is an Ecumenical ministry that encourages students, faculty, and staff at East Central University in Ada, OK to explore faith, discover grace, and seek God.  We are not of just one denomination, but are many.  As an Ecumenical ministry, we are are supported by five denominations and several local churches.  We strive to know Christ and to make Christ known. Join us as we grapple with faith, build connections, and live life together.  All are welcome.

Word from the Campus Minister

I started in June as the new campus minister at the UCM and as associate pastor at Ada FUMC.   I am excited to be here and looking forward to getting better acquainted with the community.  I first would like to say thank you to Asbury UMC for being faithful to the campus ministry.  The support you have given through prayers, gifts, and service has been important in the life of so many.

In Matthew 7:24-27, we hear the story about wise and foolish builders. “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

In order to stand firm, we need a firm foundation.  For many in college, they are finding themselves in sinking sand. Our hope as a community, as a church, as a campus ministry is that we can be the rock for these students.  We pray for each of them to find a solid foundation in faith as they navigate the real world. There are several ways you can support this ministry. The first is by letting me know of any persons who are going to ECU for the first time or for the sixth time and I will be glad to reach out and invite them into the community at the UCM.
